Fighting games and what not + skool stahp pls

meh
It's been way too long since my last blog post, partially because I feel like I don't have anything important or interesting to write about, but also because I'm lazy and don't feel like writing about anything as well.  But then again, I think I forgot that I started this blog for myself to just write about whatever the hell I wanted so if you don't find this interesting then meh :<

Bang CMV Pt2 + Summer Jam

I'm... working.
Yea.
It's been a long time since I've actually wrote a post for my blog for many random reasons, but the majority of it can be blamed on laziness and P4A.  After I finished my combo video, I went home, got P4A when it came out, and pretty much haven't stopped playing since it's release.  I'll probably write a little bit more about P4A in my next post about what I like and dislike about the game.  But, for now I spend a little time playing catch up and write about my combo video and Summer Jam.

ECT 4 + Internship

I don't even remember seeing a Hakumen
Only Ragna :/
So ECT 4 just happened last weekend and I have to say, it was a great experience.  I got to meet a bunch of people on the east coast including a couple of people from Montreal.  Even without playing Blazblue for over a couple of weeks, I didn't do too poorly considering that.  Even so, I'm still disappointed for not being able to make it out of pools, and because of that, there are no match videos of how I messed up, though I do have a general idea of what I did wrong.  I also entered Marvel... but I don't really want to think or talk about that.  Also, last week I started my internship at an investment bank.  Actually working is very different than school, especially here.  Expected behavior, social conduct, and what's in general expected of me, is very different than what I'm used to.

Street Fighter x Tekken + Winter 2012 Anime Review

WE IN THERE FOR SFxT
Recently, there's been something interesting that has occurred in the Pittsburgh scene.  For one thing, we were able to hold ranking battles for our scene which we did stream.  There was some issues with running the tournaments mainly because of the time constraint, but I think it went pretty well overall even with all of the complications that happened.  But the more interesting was what turned out of Street Fighter x Tekken and it's future in the Pittsburgh FGC.

Persona 4 + Persona 4: Arena

Out of season, but w/e :<
So a couple of weekends ago, I finally finished Persona 4.  Now, before I talk about anything important, I'm going to make the warning that this review or reflection about this game is going to be full of spoilers so unless you don't want the game to be spoiled, I recommend not reading the next few paragraphs.  I'll make the second point that if you have any intention of playing the game, you shouldn't read this as the story is one of the more important parts of the game.

Winter Brawl + Distant Worlds

It's been quite a while since I've written on my blog.  Mainly due to a bunch of work coming up such as tests, homework and what not.  In fact, I just finished a homework assignment due today and I still have another one due Friday which will take quite a bit of time.  But in the mean time, I talk about the more interesting things that I did over the past few weeks.

It kinda worked out like this
So, a couple weeks ago I went to Winter Brawl with a bunch of people from Pittsburgh.  I would have to say the most interesting thing about this trip was actually the ride there and back.  Due to some complications, we ended up having to fit 6 people into a car.  It wasn't a sedan so we didn't have to cram 4 people in the back, but since we did have a Prius, we had to stick someone into the trunk.  So, a friend sat in the trunk for the whole 6 hours to Pennsylvania, and the 6 hours back to Pittsburgh.  Keep in mind that aside from him, the trunk was completely packed.  So he was squished between all of our luggage which was quite amusing.  But, what I found even more amusing, was when we took breaks to get gas or food.  We would have to take him out of the car through the trunk, and when we were done, pack him back into the trunk.  Watching the reactions of people that could see us doing this was absolutely hilarious.  Unfortunately, there aren't any pictures of this, but the confusion on their faces was definitely something to see.

Pre-Winter Brawl + Persona 4

Still need to learn combos nuoooooooo
So, I've been lazy with my blog and missed another week =__=  Maybe one day I can actually update my blog on a regular basis like I say I will rather than just haphazardly updating when I feel like it.  So there's now only a couple days before Winter Brawl.  Unfortunately for me, I haven't got as much practice in any of the games that I want to play.  With Blazblue CS2 Extend out now, Bang has a few combos to learn along which I unfortunately haven't gotten enough time in training mode.  While we're at it, Melty Blood is another game that I didn't get to practice as much as I wanted to.  My Satsuki is not up to par yet.  I can do combos, but my post-knockdown mixup is really bad right now.  So, there's issues that I wish I had time to iron out, but couldn't really do them due to homework and tests which is always fun.

Another thing related to Winter Brawl is that my friend and I are going to be recording matches.  This'll be the first time that we record for something actually serious so that should be pretty interesting and hopefully a good experience.

Winter 2012 Anime First Impressions + First Week of School

Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou - It kinda works like this
In a way....
It's been quite a while (relatively speaking) since I've written a blog post.  With school and starting and stuff, I might just turn this into a more weekly thing which might mean longer posts, but that's how things go.
At this point, I think that I've seen enough of the animes of this season to make some sort of judgement as to what I think of them.

Final Fantasy XIII + End of Winter Break

Still awesome :3
So it's great how I finally finished FF XIII after this whole winter break... But, it took me all of winter break which sucks alot.  So, I'll just finish up my thoughts on Final Fantasy since I just finished it about a couple hours ago.  I would have to say I liked the story in the beginning.  I thought that there were some interesting concepts that they had going for it namely the idea of fal'Cie creating l'Cie for their own purpose.  Unfortunately, as the story unfolded, I can't really say much else except that I got really confused.  By the end of the series I had no idea what was going on except that it all ended happily ever after.  In other words, I feel that it should have been better executed so that it made more sense.  But then again, it is Final Fantasy.

Apex: The Tournament about Melty Blood right?

I think this was the game that was played
So this past weekend I went to Apex and long story short, it was amazing.  It's pretty much the first smash tournament I've been to since the one smash tournament that I went in my freshman year in high school.  It was nice to see alot of other people and see smash on the big screen and it was fun to be there.  I got to see some old friends from high school and meet some new people.

Interestingly enough, this tournament was also a Road to Evo tournament meaning that for the main games at Evolution 2012, you can get ranking points and get placed so that you won't have to play against other placed players early in the bracket, a good way to prevent great players taking each other out in the beginning of the tournament.  So, they had Street Fighter and Marvel, but I ended up playing neither of those games.  Or Melee and Brawl which were the center pieces of Apex.  Instead I played Melty Blood.  All weekend.

Earthbound + Skiing

skiing is suffering
So it's been an interesting couple of days.  I've learned that skiing is fun again, but it's stupidly cold.  If you do go skiing, my advice is to bundle up.  If you get too hot, at least you have layers you can take off and puts somewhere else.  If you're cold.... Well you're screwed unless someone's willing to give you some clothes, but I'm pretty sure there's not too many people that would be willing to do that.  A side effect of going to ski has forced me from my play through of Final Fantasy XIII and instead, I thought that I would finally finish playing Earthbound.

Happy New Year + Final Fantasy XIII

me- MEEE TOOOOO
Happy New Year!  So 2012 begins and with it the apocalypse as well.  Only 12 more months until the end has come.  Until then, I'll probably play more games and watch anime as usual.  2011 has been an interesting year for me in both playing games and just life in general.  I finished my first year in college and began my sophomore year (okishly).  And for gaming, I actually placed decently well in one of the games that I actually care about so I'm pretty happy about that.  Though I still need to play more and get better.

But, for the past few days before New Year's, I've been playing a bunch of FF XIII.  I've clocked about 20 hours into it and so far, I've been able to enjoy it at least a bit.  Beyond this point, there's the possibility of spoilers, so if you wish to avoid them, skip this post pretty much except the last paragraph.  I guess I'll begin with a short description of each character and what I think of them so far in the story.

Fall 2011 Anime + Winter 2012 Preview

Saber in a suit is pretty moe
So, I finally caught up to everything from this season of anime.  I've been behind on all of the anime that I was following this season due to work during the school year :/  But now school's over, I've been able to catch up on all of the anime now.  This season, I followed Fate/Zero, Ika-musume, Haganai, UN-GO, Kimi to Boku, IdolM@ster, Mawaru Penguindrum, Mashiro Iro Symphony, Tamayura, Hunter x Hunter (2011), Chihayafuru, and Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon.  In other words, I followed, 12 different animes.  Though some of them are from the previous season but that's aside the point.

Out of all of the anime that I've watched, the only ones that were universally good were Fate/Zero, and Chihayafuru.  Both of these I would recommend to people who have both watched anime and have not watched anime all too much.... Well maybe not Fate/Zero because of the background information that you need, but aside from that, it was great.  As for the other ones, there were a few that I enjoyed, but I'm not too sure whether people would have enjoyed.  For me, they be Kimi to Boku, IdolM@ster, and Tamayura.  Some people might not enjoy them mainly because they're slice of life.  They're not the most engaging and I'm pretty sure many people would be bored by them :/  But that's just me.

Merry Christmas + Remodeling

RAIDAAAAA
Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays or w/e if you don't celebrate anything around this time of year.  So winter break has started and I've been doing kinda productive things?  If nothing else, I'm moving along with some of the random things that I've wanted to do and learning some other random things as well.

If you haven't noticed, I've changed the header to something better (or at least I would like to believe so).  I ended up learning some CSS in order to be able to edit it the way I wanted to and after going through a couple of loopholes, I was able to fix it ^^  And now it looks pretty good I would say.  Later on, I plan on adding some sort of background to my blog.  What it will be, I have no clue but, I'll find out when I decide to make it.

FINALS OVER :D

So joys, finals are over and what not.  Now I get to be lazy and not do anything for a while.  Well... to be fair that's kinda what I did during finals week but let's not get into that.

IT HAS 3D
ok not really :/
During finals week, one major thing happened.  I got a new computer which is not made by Dell and therefore not a complete failure!  The really nice thing about this new laptop is that it's good enough that I can stream via something like the Black Magic Intensity Shuttle (which I suckered into getting), or record matches using that.  I'll write a post later detailing exactly how my setup is going to work, hopefully with pictures and what not so other people that may be interested will be able to find out.
